Tank Wash

Our tank wash facility, operating to food-grade standards, is an essential part of the service we supply our customers. It is TASCC assured.

Food-grade tank washes are crucial for maintaining the health and safety of the general public. Failure to follow proper cleaning practices can lead to potential cross-contamination, reduced product integrity, bacterial growth, failed inspections, and increased costs.

Our tank wash facility food grade wash is a thorough cleaning process that is performed on the tank or trailer after it has been used to transport specific food or liquid goods. The purpose of this wash is to remove any lingering particles from the previous transport before loading new goods into the tank or trailer. The type of food-grade wash required depends on the type of goods transported, but for the majority of the cases, it involves a caustic wash using 83 degrees C pressurised water. However, some products may require more extensive cleaning.

Once the cleaning has been completed, we issue a cleaning certificate that states the type of wash performed and the immediate previous cargo to ensure traceability and accountability. This certificate is then presented to the facilities before loading the next new product. We keep a log of all cleaning activities, including the cleaning history and any additional information required by the receiver or supplier.

Food-grade tank wash practices are essential for ensuring the safety and quality of transported food goods. By working with Hewicks Haulage, you can be confident that proper cleaning procedures, dedicated equipment, and adherence to regulations and guidelines are rigorously carried out to prevent cross-contamination, maintain product integrity, and comply with industry standards.
