The transportation of edible oils and fats plays a crucial role in the food industry, ensuring a steady supply chain and maintaining product integrity. Bulk hauliers are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of these essential commodities across the UK.

We are a SCOPA approved haulier and have 9 specialist tankers that are lagged and equipped to transport and deliver feed/food grade oils and fats.

Our specialist tankers are dedicated exclusively to the transport of food grade products.

SCOPA (The Seed Crushers and Oil Processors’ Association) has developed a comprehensive Code of Practice for the transport of edible oils and fats in road tank cars. This code sets industry standards for safety, hygiene, and quality throughout the supply chain.

Tankers used for the transportation of food-grade products must meet specific criteria outlined in the code. Tanker construction, maintenance, and cleaning standards are also addressed to ensure the safety and quality of the products carried. At Hewicks Haulage, we invest heavily in our staff training to ensure that these standards are fully understood and are consistently met. Our drivers receive refresher training every two years to maintain these high standards.

Our tankers have an auditable tracking & tracing system which records historical information (covering minimum 3 years) of at least 3 previous cargoes for each of the compartments as well as the cleaning history.

As part of our approval process we are regularly audited to ensure that we comply with SCOPA code of practice.
